Walking the labyrinth at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church
The labyrinth is an ancient tool used for prayer and meditation by multiple cultures around the world. It is a path with a purpose, a metaphor for life’s journey, our passage through time and experience. No matter one’s background or beliefs, walking the labyrinth can be a gift to oneself, an opportunity to take time out from life’s busyness.
A labyrinth is different from a maze in that there are no dead ends, no wrong turns. There is only one way to the center, and one way out. There are, however, many turns and unexpected corners, just as in real life.
There is no right or wrong way to walk a labyrinth. Each walker can approach it from an individual point of view, in prayer, supplication, meditation, or just in peaceful silence.
There is a labyrinth available to the people of Mountain Home, located in the parish hall of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 511 Coley Dr. The labyrinth is available on the 2nd Friday of each month from 10:30 a.m. until noon. There is no fee, no offering taken, and no expectation of any walker. Hot tea and light refreshments are available.
